Food Is Love: The Armenian Wedding Table

Armenians take great pride in their cooking and their exotic and eclectic cuisine is reflective of their culture and of traditional crops and animals inherent to the area or region. So, if you want to host an authentic Armenian affair think lots of meat, fish and fresh bread.
Here are some dishes NOT to be missed.
Mante: Great for “starters” this authentic Armenian dumpling is grilled (to perfection) and made with minced lamb or beef and served with garlic sprinkles and yogurt.
Basturma: An elegant appetizer (similar in an sense to the Italian antipasto dish) it features dried meats and seasoned beef with spices including garlic, paprika, black pepper and cumin.
Cheese Borek: This Christmas classic is delicious (as an appetizer) all year round. It is a spicy pastry made from dough stuffed with spinach, beef and layers of cheese.
Armenian Eech: This is definitely one for the vegetarians out there and is packed with flavor and veg decadence. So, what exactly is it? It’s a beautiful marriage of bulgar cooked in tomato paste, vegetables and paprika and tossed with fresh parsely.
Lahmacun: Viva la pizza…this Armenian version is made using a flour tortilla as the base and a top layer that’s a mix of meat, cumin, parsely and salt.
Tabuleh: Take your salad bar to the next level with this standard Armenian salad. This refreshing feast is made with bulgar, meat, onions, tomatoes, along with a hint of salt, lemon and olive oil.
